My son has been not been interested in reading books for entertainment he reads his school assignments but there is no excitement. I am a comic book lover and I saw this series for sale at mt local comic book store but decided to read the reviews on Amazon before I purchased them. The reviews sold me so I purchased the first book, though the graphic novel is heavy on the pictures light on the dialog the story is very captivating my 9yr old son loves it, I will be buying the entire series for him. We read together so we are both hooked! Very Fun books.Maybe when we read the last book in this series we will start the Harry Potter Series. Enjoy! This was my first time reading a graphic novel and it was interesting! In fact, it wasn't until recently that I thought I would ever read a graphic novel! I thank my students from last year for finding, loving, and reading the Amulet series so much, because here I am enjoying it now!Amulet: The Stonekeeper, is the heart breaking story of Emily and Navin. They've just suffered a tremendous loss when they move to a new city and end up, for the moment, losing someone else they love. We see them battle the unknown to find what they desire so badly; we see them grow up.It took me around 20 minutes to read this book, there are many pages with just pictures and no text, but I enjoyed it. I have to admit, though, it was a struggle to read this book how it's supposed to be read. Since I don't have much experience with graphic novels, I found myself having to re-read.Now to put on my teacher hat!This book would be a great way to teach craft in the class. The author has crafted their story into a graphic novel using dialogue and illustrations. The author also created a certain tone and mood while writing. This book was an enjoyable read; I will be reading the next one!
